The Importance of Positivity
What is your first thought in the morning when you wake up? Hopefully it is something positive, and if it isn’t, then let’s change that effective immediately. If we have learned anything over the past 13 months, it is that being good to ourselves and a good human to those around us is so incredibly important. Positivity leads to living a more enjoyable life, not just for you, but for those around you too. Happiness is contagious! Scientists say that we take on the emotions of those around us, which is why there is so much advice to be around people that make you feel good. If I make you happy, then you make your friend happy, and she makes here mother happy, and so on and so on.
So let’s get some morning affirmations happening ladies! How about one of these, or all of them.
- I am strong, capable and calm.
- Happiness is a choice, and today I choose to be happy.
- Taking care of myself makes me the best mom I can be.
- Today I commit to living a joyful and happy life.
- I recognize all the blessings in my life, and I am grateful.
- I am filled with happiness because God’s love renews me.
- I feel happy today and will share that happiness with others.
Whatever you choose for your affirmation, say it with passion and determination that this truly is you….strong, happy, blessed, grateful.
Happiness and your health
Positivity helps solidify in your mind not only the happiness that you want for yourself, but that which you want to share with those around you. Happiness also helps maintain your memory and mental acuity; and helps us be able to manage our stress levels and how we manage stressful situations. Need another great reason to get your happy on? It helps boost your immune system too.
Our mental health is also strongly attached to our social lives, and the human connections that we have with those in our lives. The happier you are, the more likely you are to make social connections and find social support, which help develop your positive self-esteem.
Nurturing and growing your happiness.
Did you know that you can also nurture your happiness and positivity? It’s true. One of the greatest ways to do this is to regularly expose yourself to positive experiences, daily if possible. These are the things that just make you happy, period. These might include:
- hobbies – photography, painting, scrapbooking, wood working, card making, gardening, puzzles, pottery, arts and crafts;
- exercise – biking, hiking, swimming, yoga, jogging, weight training;
- indulging in life’s pleasures – a walk through the park, meditation, buying yourself some flowers, kisses from munchkins, cuddles with your puppy, enjoying the sunshine, a huge piece of chocolate cake;
- gratitude journaling;
- helping others, volunteering, random acts of kindness.
Your happiness is everything, so let’s take care of it, nurture it and pay that happiness forward to someone else. After all, that’s what we Moms do, right? Experience, learn and share our newfound wisdom with the world so we can all be better…stronger…more confident…and of course…happier!
We hope that your April is full of more sunshine, more time outdoors, and more opportunities to make new wonderful memories with your loved ones. All of these will also help develop your happiness factor.
Please don’t forget that we want to hear from you. Shoot us an email with suggestions, comments or even stories that we can share with our Moms in The Cove. Let’s grow together.
Sending you positivity, sunshine and smiles every single day.
Stay safe and happy friends.
From your Cove Team Moms,
